Very quick, efficient and courteous customer service. My elderly mother subscribed to this service and couldn't remember why. What does it mean when a contact is linked?
I am sure you probably have the same contacts in multiple sources and LINK is a way of telling Android that these contacts, from the different sources, are same. Once you link the contacts Android will merge the contact details i.e. one contact will be shown with all the details from every source.
What is a linked contact in Android?
A very nice feature of the Android contact system is Linked Contacts. A Linked Contact is a way to link one contact to a related contact. For instance, you might want to link all the employees of a specific department. To do this, open one of those contacts and scroll down to the bottom.
What happens when you link contacts on your phone?
Linked contacts don't do anything. They are simply linked. The reason for linking contacts is that some contacts come from sources where they cannot be altered on your computer. For instance, if you sync your contacts to Facebook, only the person who owns the Facebook account can change their contact information.
How do I unlink contacts on Android?
To unlink 1 contact from another open the contact. Choose the menu and choose separate contact. From that screen it isn't obvious, but there is a faded button on the right of each of the contacts that are linked. When you press it, the device will prompt “Separate contact” Cancel or OK.
