The number to call to activate an DEBT is commonly found on the back of the card. It's typically the customer service number. You'll need to follow the automated prompts and select the option “activate your DEBT card.” The process is similar to activating a debit card for the first time.
To activate your card by calling the number on the back: Dial 1-866-545-6502 and listen to the automated system.
Use the hotline number on the back of your card to find out whether your account is still active. You can also access your account online using the number on your DEBT card. The automated system or online statement will indicate the amount you have in your account.
The cardholder must call the toll-free customer service help desk at 1-866-281-2448, and follow the prompts to select a PIN. The PIN is a four-digit number that the cardholder chooses when an DEBT account is activated. It should be a number easy for the cardholder to remember but hard for someone else to guess.
When will my SNAP DEBT card arrive? (For SNAP Clients) If you have just been certified to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, you should receive your Electronic Benefits Transfer (DEBT) card and benefits within 30 days from the date you filed your application.
DEBT accounts are inactive when a debit transaction (withdrawal) has not occurred for at least 60 days. The “aging” clock begins when benefits are deposited into a new DEBT account. The clock is reset to zero each day that the client makes a purchase or withdrawal from their account.
