Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Find the Equation of a Line Given That You Know Two Points it Passes Through. The equation of a line is typically written as y=MX+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. If you know two points that a line passes through, this page will show you how to find the equation of the line.
Identify the slope, m. This can be done by calculating the slope between two known points of the line using the slope formula. Find the y-intercept. This can be done by substituting the slope and the coordinates of a point (x, y) on the line in the slope-intercept formula and then solve for b.
Identify the y-intercept of an equation. Choose two points to determine the slope. Substitute the y-intercept and slope into the slope-intercept form of a line.

To find the equation of a line using 2 points, start by finding the slope of the line by plugging the 2 sets of coordinates into the formula for slope. Then, plug the slope into the slope-intercept formula, or y = MX + b, where “m” is the slope and “x” and “y” are one set of coordinates on the line.
There are various forms which we can write the equation of a line: the point-slope form, the slope-intercept form, the standard form, etc. The point slope form of the equation of a line is given by y — y1 = m(x — x1). Where (x1, y1) is a point on the line and m is the slope of the line.
To determine whether a point is located in a given line, simply plug in the coordinates of the point into the line. In this case, plugging in the coordinates into the only line where you can plug in the coordinates and have a valid equation is. Plugging in (2,7) would give you an equation of, which works out to.
The easiest way is to use point-slope form of an equation: y-y1 = m(x-x1), where m stands for slope and (x1, y1) is the point you are given. Done! Unless it says to write it in some other form.
Calculate the slope from 2 points. Substitute either point into the equation. You can use either (3,7) or (5,11) Solve for b, which is the y-intercept of the line. Substitute b, -1, into the equation from step 2.
Step 1: Develop the slope-point form for the line. Given two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) the slope between the points is. m=y2y1x2×1. And. ... Step 2: convert the slope point form into standard form. Note that the standard form is. Ax+Bx=C. With integer values for A, B,C and A0. Starting from the slope-point form.
