Can one physician sign for another?

Can doctors working in the same practice sign orders for each other? One doctor has ordered, but another signs the order. CMS Transmittal 327 CR 6698, states physicians cannot sign for the other physicians.

Can a physician Bill incident to another physician?

A physician MAY bill incident to another physician's services as long as they meet the incident to regulations found in 42 CFR Ch IV § 410.26.

What is physician incident services?

”Incident to” services are defined as services or supplies furnished as an integral, although incidental, part of the physician's personal professional services in the course of diagnosis or treatment of an injury or illness. Reimbursement. Reimbursement is based on 100% of the physician fee schedule amount.

Specifically, the services may be provided only in a physician's office or in the patient's home. How long does a physician have to sign a verbal order?

A verbal order must be authenticated by the person who issued it at the earliest opportunity but no more than 72 hours after issued. Authentication consists of the prescriber initialing and dating the transcribed order.
