Plan on being away for three to 30 days after the move? The USPS can hold your mail at your local post office until you get back. You can request that your mail be held as early as the next scheduled delivery day or up to a month ahead of time.
What happens to my mail if I move?
To ensure that all mail is sent to your new address after the first year of moving, you'll need to forward your mail with USPS. This way, everything from packages and letters to bills and magazines will be delivered to the right address.
How long will the post office hold my mail?
To request a mail hold, call 1-800-ASK-USPS or complete a hold mail form at the post office. You can make the request up to 30 days in advance or as early as the next-scheduled delivery day. The postal service will hold mail from three to 30 days.

What Mail does the post office not forward?
