Text messages from a 5-digit number are known as short code messages and typically come from businesses or services. The best way to unsubscribe from these unwanted messages is to reply any of the following: STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE.
Sending a text message to a standard short code number A short code number is a mobile number that typically consists of 5 digits. Our own service makes use of such a short code, 60777. Sending a text to such a number of means you will usually be charged by your operator at their standard network rate, around 10p.
Short codes are short phone numbers, typically 5 or 6 digits long, that can only be used for text messages (SMS) or MMS messages. Short codes are short by definition as they are meant to be easily remembered when sending a text.
