Can you sign over a title without a notary?
Some states, like California, do not require a notary for a car title, but other states do, like Iowa, and the required list of documents can be quite long. Also, you must know whether you have the right to sell a vehicle if you are not the legal owner, or a minor.
Can I just sign a car title over to someone?
Signing Over the Title Some states may require that the document be signed in front of a notary. Once the title has been signed by all parties involved and notarized (if applicable), then ownership of the car has been properly transferred. Signing over a car title to someone is relatively simple.
