Text structure refers to how the information within a written text is organized. This strategy helps students understand that a text might present a main idea and details; a cause and then its effects; and/or different views of a topic.
There are five types of text we are going to discuss: definition/ description, Time order/chronological or sequence, cause and effect, comparison and contrast, and problem-solution.
In this classification, there are three main categories: Expository texts. Narrative texts, and. Argumentative texts.
Broadly speaking, there are two main text types, factual and literary. Within these are many more narrowly defined text types. Factual text types include such types as factual description, recount, or persuasive. Literary text types include such types as poetry, narrative or personal response.
There are four main types of writing: expository, descriptive, persuasive, and narrative. Each of these writing styles is used for a specific purpose. A single text may include more than one writing style.
These different forms of writing are often known as text types at school. Factual texts inform, instruct or persuade by giving facts and information. Literary texts entertain or elicit an emotional response by using language to create mental images.
