The basic formula for calculating GPA is to divide the total points earned in a program by the total number of credits attempted. The resulting figure is the GPA for that program.
Calculate your full GPA on a 4.0 scale. First, multiply each weighted or unweighted grade by the number of credits associated with the course. Add these values together. Second, divide the total by the number of total credits you earned.
The unweighted GPA scale is the most frequently used GPA scale. Basically, the highest GPA you can earn is a 4.0, which indicates an A average in all of your classes. A 3.0 would mean a B average, a 2.0 a C average, a 1.0 a D, and a 0.0 an F. This scale does not take the difficulty of your course.
A+ = 4. A = 4. A- = 3.7. B+ = 3.3. B = 3. B- = 2.7. C+ = 2.3. C = 2.
GPA Calculator Your grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points earned by the total amount of credit hours attempted. Your grade point average may range from 0.0 to a 4.0. To get the example student's GPA, the total grade points are divided by the total credit hours attempted.
A 3.67 is a good GPA. It looks even better if you got that GPA taking a challenging course load. If you got a 3.67 taking all honors and AP classes, that's impressive. If you got a 3.67 taking mostly the basic classes, that's less so, but it's not bad.
Multiply the percentage assigned to each category by your average grade in that category. For example, if your average grade in quizzes is 86, multiply 86 by 15 percent (86 × 15 = 12.9). Add these results together (22.5+40+12.9+9.2 = 84.6). The sum is 84.6, or 85, which is a B.
Multiply the number of credits by the grade to get the Grade Points for each course. Add the Grade Points for each course together to get Total Grade Points. Divide the Total Grade Points by the total number of Credit Hours attempted. Credit hours = the total number of credits you earned and attempted.
To calculate your science & math GPA, use the following steps: List each course you took or plan on taking and how many credits it is worth. For each course, list the earned or expected grade. Multiply the number of credits by the grade to get the Grade Points for each course.
