What is a position limit?
A position limit is a preset level of ownership established by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) that limits the number of derivative contracts a trader, or any affiliated group of traders and investors may own.

Client Level Position Limits. The gross open position for each client, across all the derivative contracts on an underlying, should not exceed: -1% of the free float market capitalization (in terms of number of shares)

What is meant by market wide position limit?
A market-wide position limit is the maximum number of open positions allowed across all F&O contracts of the underlying stock. The market-wide position limit is 20 percent of the free float market capitalization of a stock. It is applicable only to stocks which are eligible to be traded in the derivatives segment.
How do I trade with MPL?
MPL is calculated on 20% of the non-promoter holding in the stock and includes positions taken in futures and options. For instance, if the equity base of a company consists of 100 shares with non-promoter holding at 40% (40 shares), the number of shares considered for MPL will be 8 shares (20% of the 40 shares).
What is quantity freeze in USE?
Quantity Freeze is one such rule introduced to regulate the flow of orders within a certain specified quantity and avoid abnormal moves in either direction. Freeze duration is approximately 8 minutes, after which the client can again place the order with the quantity lesser than the freeze limit.
What is a price limit?
A price limit is an established amount in which a price may increase or decrease in any single trading day from the previous day's settlement price. In financial and commodity markets, prices are only permitted to rise or fall by a certain number of ticks (or by a certain percentage) per trading session.
What does limit price mean?
A limit order is an order to buy or sell a stock at a specific price or better. A buy limit order can only be executed at the limit price or lower, and a sell limit order can only be executed at the limit price or higher. A limit order is not guaranteed to execute.
