Creating a time series The ts() function will convert a numeric vector into an R time series object. The format is ts(vector, start=, end=, frequency=) where start and end are the times of the first and last observation and frequency is the number of observations per unit time (1=annual, 4=quarter, 12=monthly, etc.).

Time series is a series of data points in which each data point is associated with a timestamp. The data for the time series is stored in an R object called time-series object. It is also an R data object like a vector or data frame. The time series object is created by using the ts() function.
The simplest way to create a sequence of numbers in R is by using the : operator. Type 1:20 to see how it works. That gave us every integer between (and including) 1 and 20 (an integer is a positive or negative counting number, including 0).
Step 1 Check stationary: If a time series has a trend or seasonality component, it must be made stationary before we can use ARIA to forecast. . Step 2 Difference: If the time series is not stationary, it needs to be nationalized through difference. Take the first difference, then check for stationary.
To run the forecasting models in 'R', we need to convert the data into a time series object which is done in the first line of code below. The 'start' and 'end' argument specifies the time of the first and the last observation, respectively.
Forecasting refers to the process of using statistical procedures to predict future values of a time series based on historical trends. For businesses, being able gauge expected outcomes for a given time period is essential for managing marketing, planning, and finances.
