Open your OS's file browser. Select files. Open file properties and change attribute to read-only. Well, you could disable the ability for people to edit the files and to do this you go to File > Properties > Security and from there you can disable editing, commenting and printing of the file and even more.
How do you create a protected PDF?
Open the PDF and choose Tools > Protect > Encrypt > Encrypt with Password. If you receive a prompt, click Yes to change the security. Select Require A Password To Open The Document, then type the password in the corresponding field.
