Enable Protected View For Files Originating From The Internet. Enable Protected View For Files Located In Potentially Unsafe Locations.
Protected View is a read-only mode where most editing functions are disabled. There are several reasons why a file opens in Protected View: The file was opened from an Internet location — When you see the message in Protected View that says “Be careful — files from the Internet can contain viruses.
On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Protect Document, and then click Restrict Formatting and Editing. In the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane, click Stop Protection.
In Excel go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Protected View, and then uncheck Enabled Protected View for files originating from the Internet.
To get to the protected view options, open Microsoft Word 2010 and then go to file and options. On the left column click Trust Center and then click Trust Center Settings. Now on the left column click Protected View and uncheck any documents you would like to open automatically with Protected View disabled.
