I hate when I fill a pdf, then have to log in, and mistype my password, so by the time I've logged in I've lost ALL my work. Otherwise, it works flawlessly

Never let incoming faxes sit on publicly available fax machines. Dump your manual fax machine and use a HIPAA-compliant cloud fax service. Always use cover pages. Keep an audit trail. Be aware of all PHI stored on local devices.
HIPAA allows doctors and hospitals to fax a patient's medical information. HIPAA requires doctors have appropriate security safeguards in place when faxing. HIPAA Privacy Rules do not prohibit a covered entity from faxing protected health information to doctors.
When a covered entity is permitted by the HIPAA medical privacy rule to make a disclosure of protected health information (PHI), the covered entity can make the communication orally or in writing, by phone, fax, email, or otherwise. A laboratory may fax a patient's medical test results to a physician.
Q: HIPAA does not address faxing patient information specifically, but, like any form of health information, it is protected under the privacy rule. Health care professionals need to understand that faxed patient information can easily fall into the wrong hands, which would be a violation of privacy.
Faxes make physical documents, and once you've sent one, you can't really recall it. Anyone can view your fax if you send it to the wrong fax machine. In your case, however, there is some good news. Since the number you dialed is a company number, you actually know who has your information.
Steps to safer faxing: Always use a cover letter. To prevent numbers from being misfiled, use saved speed-dial numbers for recipients you fax frequently. Check those numbers regularly. For any new recipient, verify the number with a test email before sending PHI.
However, the fax machine is inherently private. The only people who will see those papers are the people at your office. Emails need encryption to remain safe, while the fax is already encrypted. So, you are able to rest assured that any private documents remain private.
Go to the “Send fax” section and enter your recipient's name and fax number. Attach your PDF file to your message and send your fax through your service's secure fax technology.
