Can 18-year-olds drive past midnight?
Provisional license holders may not drive unsupervised during the hours of midnight to 5 a.m. unless for school, sports, job or volunteer work. The nighttime driving restriction only applies to provisional license holders under 18.
Are there driving restrictions for 18-year-olds?
Everyone, at every age, with a license of any kind must follow the law. They also can not drive with anyone under the age of 25 without someone over the age of 25 in the vehicle. These rules drop when you turn 18 or after your first 12 months of being licensed, whichever comes first.
Can an 18-year-old driver have passengers?
For the first 6 months of the junior operator's/intermediate license phase, drivers may not transport any passengers (other than family members) under the age of 18 unless supervised by a licensed driver age 21 or older (secondarily enforced).
Is there a curfew for 18-year-old drivers?
Curfew hours for drivers under 18 Until they are 18, licensed drivers cannot drive during curfew hours, meaning after 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and after 10 pm on all other nights. Curfew hours last until 6 am the next day. There are exceptions that can make a minor's license valid during curfew hours.

If you are under age 18, you must wait at least 6 months from the date you received your learner permit to schedule your road test.
When can a teenage driver have passengers?
During the first 12 months after you are licensed, you cannot drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. and cannot transport passengers under 20 years old, unless accompanied by a California-licensed parent or guardian, a California-licensed driver 25 years old or older, or a licensed or certified driving instructor.
At what age cans a teenager get a driving permit?
Learner's permit — To apply for a California learner's permit, teens need to be between 15½ and 17½ years of age. If you are younger than 17½ you will have to complete an approved driver's education course that is taught by a state-licensed driver's education school and includes a minimum of 25 hours of instruction.
Can you drive alone at 16?
Even though you can legally drive alone after you are 16 years old, you need to have a provisional driver's license for six months prior. With a provisional driver's license, you are allowed to drive with a licensed adult 25 years of age or older.
