Navigate to the USPS Postage Price Calculator page. Enter the details of your letter or package. Select the shipment type. Compare shipping options. Add Extra Services. Hit Continue for your result. Pay for shipping and print postage for your shipment.
Divide the postage price by the price of a Forever stamp. The number you get is how many stamps you'll need. If your postage cost comes to $2.32, for example, you would divide 2.32 by 0.50 to get 4.64. Round up for a total of 5 stamps.
Letters That Need More Than One Stamp A letter weighing an ounce or less and mailed within the U.S. needs one Forever stamp. Each additional ounce costs $0.21, so your two ounce letter needs approximately a stamp and a half.
3 oz. A single “Three Ounce Forever Stamp”. OR one regular Forever stamp + two Additional Ounce Forever Stamps.
For the U.S., you weight it on a scale that is accurate to the nearest tenth of an ounce, and then you look up the amount of postage needed at Postage Price Calculator. Or, you take it to a Post Office and have them weigh it. For U.S. domestic mail, a standard letter that weighs an ounce or fewer costs 49 cents to mail.
The rate for a First Class Mail Letter (1 oz.) for postage purchased at the Post Office is NOT INCREASING in 2020, remaining at $0.55. If you print postage online (via Stamps.com), the Metered Mail rate will also NOT BE INCREASING, with rates remaining at $0.50 in 2020, a 5 cent discount off the Post Office price.
US Postal Service Rate Changes as of January 26, 2020, The new prices include no increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp, which remains at 55 cents. The single-piece letter additional ounce price remains at 15 cents. The price of postcard stamps is still at 35 cents, and 1-ounce flats continue at $1.
The U.S. Postal Service proposed the changes in October and if approved, the cost of a Forever stamp will increase from 50 cents to 55 cents. That's the largest increase in stamp costs since 1991, according to USA Today.
