Highlight Reports. A highlight report is used to provide key stakeholders with a summary of the initiative status at regular intervals. The report can then be used to monitor progress of the initiative and to flag any particular issues or concerns to the Board, via the Project Manager.
The Highlight Report is mainly created in the Controlling a Stage process by the Project Manager.
Purpose. A Checkpoint Report is used to report, at a frequency defined in the Work. Package, the status of the Work Package.
Exception Report. An Exception Report is normally an issue report that documents an issue that is out of tolerance. It is produced by the Project Manager when a stage plan or project plan is forecast to exceed tolerance levels set and given to the Project Board.
The End Stage Report provides a summary of management stage progress to date, the overall project situation, and sufficient information to ask for a Project Board decision on what to do next in the project.
Checkpoint Report are produced by Team Managers to report to the Project Manager on the status and progress being made against a Work Package. A Checkpoint Report is a time-bound report because it should be produced on a regular basis as the Work Package is in progress.
Checkpoint calls indicate to IMS that the program has reached a commit point. They also establish places in the program from which the program can be restarted. BMP, JMP, and batch programs can use either symbolic checkpoint calls or basic checkpoint calls.
Projects occur as a series of phases, structured along a time line designed to produce deliverables, meet stated goals, and utilize allocated resources. Checkpoints provide a basis for analysis and evaluation, to determine whether the project is proceeding as planned, and to take corrective action as needed.
