If you have previously scanned documents that you would like to reduce in size, open them with Preview and then save them as a JPEG file using the Quality setting to reduce the file size. Then check the resulting file by opening it in Preview, and save it again as a PDF.

DPI. The dots per inch (DPI) of the scanned image is often the primary cause of a large PDF file. By default, most scanners will scan images at 300 DPI, which is the minimum DPI for any image that is printed after scanned. However, for a PDF that is for screen reading the DPI should be 72.

In order for you to see clearer scanned documents, Scanner captures images in high resolution. To adjust image size, you can click the camera button and change the resolution in camera settings. Scanner will display all resolutions in 4:3 your device supports.
