The youngest age in any state that a driver can obtain a learner's permit is 14 years old, and the highest age is 16 years old. Restricted licenses can be obtained anywhere from 15 to 17 years old, and full licenses are granted between 16 and 18 years old.
At age 15, individuals are eligible for a learner's permit, or age 14 if enrolled in driver education. Permit holders may not drive unsupervised. At age 16, drivers who have held the learner's permit for at least 12 months are eligible for an intermediate license.
Drivers Ed in Texas Texans can apply for their learners permits (or learners licenses as they are sometimes called) as young as 15 years old, but only if they have completed the classroom portion of a state-approved drivers education course.
If you are under age 18, you must wait at least 6 months from the date you received your learner permit to schedule your road test.
To get a learner's permit, you must be at least 15 ½ years old. Those 17 Â1⁄2 and younger must take a Driver's Education course before getting their permits. If you're 18 or older at the time of applying for a learner's permit in California, you don't have to take Driver's Ed.
