For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Plug in your fax machine. Connect one phone line from the wall phone jack to the port on the fax machine labeled Line. Connect a second phone line from the port on the fax machine labeled Ext or Tel to the phone.
Plug an RJ-11 telephone line splitter into the telephone port on the modem, if the cable modem only contains one telephone port. Plug the fax machine's telephone cable into one of the ports on the splitter, and then plug the other end of the telephone cable into the splitter's other port.
However, you do need to have the right hardware--as long as you have a printer that has a fax machine built into it, you can run your faxes right through a cable modem. In order to be able to use a cable modem to fax, you need to do this over the Internet and you need to have a printer that faxes.
A fax line can cost anywhere from US$3-35 a month depending on how it is set up. There are three ways of getting a fax line: With an online fax service (a virtual fax machine). Costs start at US$5-15/month for 100 pages/month of fax transmissions.
Plug in the telephone cable to a wall jack and then plug the other end into the Line In port on the back of your fax machine. If it has a handset, pick it up and listen for a dial tone. Your machine needs a working telephone line to send and receive faxes.
Call 1-800-444-4444 for an easy way to find out your fax number. Your fax number is connected to a phone line, and the number associated with the phone line is your fax number. From the landline associated with the fax machine, call 1-800-444-4444, a toll-free line operated by MCI (a telecommunications company).
You don't need a dedicated landline to send the occasional fax. Just plug an existing phone line into the device and send your message, then plug it back into your phone if you don't have a spare jack. You may be able to send a fax over a Voice Over IP connection, such as the ones many cable TV providers offer.
