You can set additional properties in the properties panel, such as formatting and whether or not the field is required. The Drop Down field can be required or optional. If you set the Required Field property, your recipient must select one of the options to complete the document.
Start an envelope as usual, adding documents, recipients, and messages. In the Add Fields view, click one of the field types listed above and place it onto the document. In the properties panel, uncheck the Required Field property. The field is now optional and signers can choose whether or not to complete it.
Note: If you find you cannot add fields to the documents and templates you create, most likely this is because of your user permission profile. Contact your administrator and ask to adjust your permission settings. These settings are documented in this administrator help guide.
