Symbols. Symbols is a powerful feature in Sketch that allows you to reuse elements easily across your document's Artboards and Pages, or even multiple documents. A Symbol is made up of two parts: a master, which takes the appearance of an Artboardand an instance, which is a flattened representation of the master.
When you create a Symbol, Sketch creates both a master and an instance of it. You can create as many instances of the same Symbol as you like, but you'll only ever have one master. If you choose Send Symbol to Symbols page, you'll see a new page above the Layer List called Symbols. In here, you'll find your master.
Creating a symbol in Sketch With the desired item(s) selected, click the Create Symbol icon in the toolbar, or select Layer>Create Symbol in the menu. If you've got a group selected, you can also right-click in the Layers List and select Create Symbol.
