How can I accept jail calls without paying?
Collect phone calls are the default calling option from jails served by Pay Tel. If you currently use a cell phone, VoIP phone, these carriers do not allow inmate collect calls to be billed to your number, making it necessary for you to establish an account with Pay Tel in order to accept phone calls from the jail.
How do I accept collect calls from an inmate?
You receive a call from an operator saying there is an inmate from a correctional facility who needs you to accept a collect call and the associated charges. Once you accept the call, the caller convinces you to hang up your phone, dial in *72 and another phone number.
Can text now accept jail calls?
I have just read Text Support answer from someone else's question about receiving calls from a prison/jail, which was that the application can not accept incoming collect calls so no, jail calls are not available. You will not be charged for this call.

A common reason someone cannot receive a call from their inmate is because they only have a cell phone, and cell phones cannot receive collect calls. Other problems people run into are not realizing they have collect calls blocked through their telephone service provider.

Using your inmate's ID number, you can quickly and easily leave a secure voicemail without having to contact the facility. When you call the local phone number for a facility offering Inmate Voicemail, you will be informed of the cost for leaving a message. To leave your message, simply select the inmate by ID number.
