For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Take the average of the measurements and the difference is between it and the true value is accuracy. Resolution can be expressed in two ways: 1. It is the ratio between the maximum signal measured to the smallest part that can be resolved — usually with an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter.
An image with a higher PPI tends to be of higher quality due to its greater pixel density. The individual pixels in a 300 PPI image are drastically smaller than in a 72 PPI image. Smaller pixels allow for a smoother blend of color and shape.
Your computer monitor shows images at a web resolution of 72 dpi (that's 72 dots per inch). A common photograph print resolution is 300 dpi (that's 300 dots per inch).
The difference between 300dpi and 72dpi is found in the amount of pixel information (or dots) for every square inch of the image you are viewing. The more dots/pixels the image contains, the sharper the image will print. Printing will look blurry if a 72dpi image is used as compared to using a 300dpi high-res image.
72DPI stands for 72 dots per inch. Dots per inch is a measure of spatial printing or video resolution, in particular the number of individual dots or pixels within the span of one linear inch.
All files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch). If you submit low-resolution files for printing, you will not be happy with the quality of your printing. Below are examples of a low resolution (72 dpi) file and a high resolution (300 dpi) file.
If your dpi is only 72 dpi, you'll need to change it. 72 dpi is generally fine for all things on digital monitors. But for printing you'll need 300 dpi. Changing dpi in Photoshop is easier than you could imagine.
PPI describes the resolution in pixels of a digital image whereas DPI describes the amount of ink dots on a printed image. Though PPI largely refers to screen display, it also affects the print size of your design and thus the quality of the output.
