What packages require a signature?
There are a few times you need to sign. First — when the shipper requests a signature for confirmation. Third — when the package is from a shipper outside the USA, international deliveries require a signature. Fourth — when the contents are regulated such as, medications, alcohol or hazardous items.
How do I know if my package requires a signature?
Click the Sign for a Package option to sign for a package online. If it's grayed out, the package either doesn't require a signature or FedEx needs you to sign for it in person. For example, if a package's sender specified adult signature required, FedEx will need someone over 21 to sign for it in person.
Why do I have to sign for a package?
Some packages are sent 'signature required' or 'adult signature required'. If it's not 'adult signature required', the driver has the option of letting you sign the slip for redelivery. They will do this if they feel the package would be OK unattended. For houses in good neighborhoods, they'll usually let you do this.
Do all UPS packages need a signature?
Delivery Confirmation: UPS will mail you a confirmation of delivery without a signature. Adult Signature Required: UPS will obtain the adult recipient's signature and provide you with a printed copy. Adult recipients must be at least 21. You may also view the adult recipient's signature online.
Should I require a signature on delivery?
They don't have to be present on the day of delivery. If no one is home the postal carrier will leave a notice that their package requires a signature and is awaiting pick up at their post office. Remember, if you have UPS packages go missing on delivery, you have $100 insurance by default.
What happens if no one is home to sign for a UPS package?
If the sender has specified that an adult signature is required, you cannot authorize delivery release online. You can, however, redirect it to a UPS customer center. You could either have your package left at a UPS location, such as The UPS Store or a UPS Access Point® location, or change your instructions.
