Footnote A footnote for a newspaper article should include: Name of author (if known). Title of the article, month, day and year of publication. The edition (final, West Coast, etc.) if available. The section if in print or the URL if found online. You can omit page numbers.
Citing a Website in Footnotes. Write the Author's Name. Add the Web Page Name. Add the Overall Website Name. Enter the Publication Date. Add the Website URL. Add the Access Date. Enter the Author's Name.
To cite an online article in MLA style (8th Edition), the Works Cited entry should contain the author's name, the title of the page, the name of the website, the publication date, and the URL. When citing a web page or a whole website, there is often no author or publication date provided.
Include the URL at the end of the citation. If the URL is not available, then include the name of the database where you got the article. 1. First name Last name, “Article Name,” Magazine Title, Month and year of publication, [page if given], URL/ Database name.

Format for footnotes for a document from the web: A. Author, 'Title of Document', Name of Website in Italics, Place of Publication, Name of Publisher, year, page number, http://url, (accessed day month year).
Footnotes are listed at the bottom of the page on which a citation is made. A numeral is placed in the text to indicate the cited work and again at the bottom of the page in front of the footnote. A footnote lists the author, title and details of publication, in that order.
Insert the footnote after the information you would like to cite in your paper. Write the author's name, first name, followed by a comma. List the article or page title in quotations followed by a comma before the end quotation. Write the name of the online publication, underlined or in italics.
