Choose the References tab. Click Table of Contents. Choose Insert Table of Contents Click the Options button. Scroll through the Available styles: list to make sure that the Title style now shows up and that it has the desired TOC level.
Format your document using heading styles found on the Home tab, e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2, and so on. Place the cursor where you want the table of contents to appear (usually, the beginning of the document) Click Table of Contents on the References Tab, and choose one of the types of tables of contents available.
Click where you want to insert the table of contents usually near the beginning of a document. Click References > Table of Contents and then choose an Automatic Table of Contents style from the list.
Click in your document where you want to create the table of contents. If you'd like it to appear on its own page, insert a page break (Ctrl+Enter) before and after inserting the TOC. Click the References tab. Choose the style of Table of Contents you wish to insert.
Select the text or object you want to use as a hyperlink. Right-click and then click Hyperlink. Under Link to, click Place in This Document. In the list, select the heading or bookmark that you want to link to.
Put your cursor where you want to add the table of contents. Go to References > Table of Contents. And choose an automatic style. If you make changes to your document that affect the table of contents, update the table of contents by right-clicking the table of contents and choosing Update Field.
