Do you get dislocation allowance when separating?
Service members otherwise eligible for with-dependents DLA will not receive it if they do not move their dependents, and they occupy government quarters. You will not be authorized DLA for moves after separation or retirement. DLA is not authorized if the move is due to divorce or the service member's misconduct.
Will the military move me when I separate?
If you're going through a voluntary military separation, the government will typically pay for one final military move up to six months after your final out date. But depending on where you are headed, you could be forced to pay some of that cost out of your own pocket.
Do you get orders when you separate from the military?
Army: No advance payment is made for separating service members. Retirees can receive an advance of up to 60% of the 95% PPM incentive payment. Separating service members whose active duty termination date has passed cannot receive advance payment for PPM moves.
How long after retirement will the military move you?
According to the regulation that governs military travel, your final move must be made within one year of your retirement, unless you apply for and receive an extension. Those extensions can be granted for almost any reason, as long as a transportation official signs off on it.
