Select the stencil that contains the shape you want to add. Select a shape, and drag it onto the drawing page. Point to the shape, and point to the arrow that indicates the direction of the next shape you want to add. Select the shape you want to add.
On the View tab, in the Show group, click Task Panes, and then click Shape Data. These toggles display of the Shape Data task pane. Select the shape or shapes that you want to add data to. Right-click the selection, point to Data on the shortcut menu, and then click Define Shape Data.
When you find stencils online and download them, Vision stores them in the Shapes folder. That's where you can find them when you're ready to use them in your diagrams. When you download a stencil, and the notification bar asks if you want to open or save the file, click the arrow next to Save and click Save As.
To draw a straight line, select the Line tool. To draw an irregular shape, select the Free form tool. To draw a curved line, select the Arc tool.
Click the File tab. Click New, click Software and Database, and then double-click Data Flow Diagram. From the Data Flow Diagram Shapes stencil, drag an External interactor shape onto the drawing page to represent each external source or destination for data.
