If you want to change the outline of a picture and make it a shape (like a circle or a star), use the cropping tools on the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab. Select the picture (or pictures) that you want to crop. On the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab, click Crop > Crop to Shape, and then pick the shape you want.
Use the Lasso Tool to outline the irregular shape that you wish to crop. To do this, select the Lasso Tool from the Tool Palette, then hold down the left mouse button while you create the shape. Release the mouse button to complete the shape.
Click Picture Tools > Format, and in the Size group, click the arrow under Crop. From the menu that appears, select Crop to Shape, and then click the shape you want to crop to. The shape is immediately applied to the image. If you want to adjust the shape, click the Crop button on the ribbon.
Scroll through your document until you find the picture you want to crop, then click once the picture to select it. Click the down arrow next to the “Crop” button. It's in the “Size” section on the right side of the Format toolbar. A drop-down menu will appear.
Want to crop an image, but the area you want to keep is not a perfect square? Don't sweat it just make a selection around the area you want to keep, using any selection tool you like (even the Lasso tool), and then choose Crop from the Image menu. It will crop the image as tightly as possible.
Click the picture that you want within the shape. Click PICTURE TOOLS > FORMAT > Size and click the arrow under Crop. If you don't see the Picture Tools and Format tabs, make sure that you selected a picture. Click Fill or Fit. ... When you are finished, press ESC.

Select the picture (or pictures) that you want to crop. If you are cropping lots of pictures at once, you have to use the same shape for all of them. To crop to different shapes, crop each picture one at time. On the PICTURE TOOLS FORMAT tab, click Crop > Crop to Shape, and then pick the shape you want.
Make sure that the entire image is on the screen. (Closing an open task bar helps.) From the Drawing toolbar, choose Autoscales> Lines> Free form. Click anywhere along the edge where you want to crop and drag around the image (with the mouse button held down).
