Didn't expect a trial... kind of took me by surprise after I used it to file a larger pdf. I like the software but the tactic is a little... predatory?

For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
The resolution refers to the number of pixels (dots) per inch (DPI). For example, if an image contains 800-by-600 pixels and has a size of 4-by-3 inches, then the resolution is 800 pixel / 4 inches = 200 DPI. Generally, higher resolution allows you to print or zoom up images to larger sizes without losing quality.
For a 4" x 6" print, the image resolution should be 640 × 480 pixels minimum. For a 5" x 7" print, the image resolution should be 1024 × 768 pixels minimum. For an 8" x 10" print, the image resolution should be 1536 × 1024 pixels minimum. For a 16" x 20" print, the image resolution should be 1600 × 1200 pixels minimum.
Keep in mind though the 200 PPI = photo quality concept, a minimum of 200 dpi should be used in scanning. Best results for paper photos are generally achieved within a range of 300 dpi (sufficient for most photos) to 600 dpi (if you want to enlarge the image).
Print: 300dpi is standard, sometimes 150 is acceptable but never lower, you may go higher for some situations. Web/Digital: DPI doesn't equate to digital it's a print measure. It was commonly believed for a long that 72dpi was ideal for the web.
The quick answer is that higher resolutions lead to better scans for reproducing your images. 600 DPI scans produce much larger files, but help ensure every detail in your print is recorded in digital form. ... If you want files that are easier to work with, 300 DPI scans would be a better choice.
In reality, with a good quality digital photo (see below) — 200 PPI will achieve photographic quality in print — so even if they ask for 300 PPI, if you have a photo with 200 PPI it will most likely print just fine as long as it is a good quality digital photo.
When a printer prints at 300 dpi, it spaces the pixels onto paper at 300 pixels per inch of paper. Printing 3000 pixels at 300 dpi prints a 10-inch image on paper.
Most people are happy with 150 image dots per printed inch while a professional would want 300 image dots per printed inch. If you are thinking of printing 4×6 shots, you would need are resolution of at least 600×900 at 150 Image dots/inch or 1200×1800 at 300 Image dots/ inch.
For 4×6 inch prints, at 300 Pixels Per Inch, you will want images that have at least (but could be larger) 1200×1800 pixel dimensions.
Count your pixels Hi-res images are at least 300 pixels per inch (PPI). This resolution makes for good print quality, and is pretty much a requirement for anything that you want hard copies of, especially to represent your brand or other important printed materials.
