For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
To sign “not," form your hand into an "A" hand with the thumb extending a bit more than normal. Place the thumb under your chin. Quickly move your hand forward a few inches. Generally you use a negative head shake with this sign.
ASL sign for: BECAUSE. For the reason that; since; due to the fact that. Another handshake variation is the handshape horizontal “L", palm in. The sign of this gloss WHY/\\ (with the raised eyebrows) is a rhetorical question.
Instead of signing one of the versions of “or" shown below, you could instead just use a “bodyshift." You'd sign, "YOU WANT" in the normal position, then as you signed PIZZA, you'd sort of lean a bit to your right, then when you signed “HAMBURGER" you'd lean a bit to your left. This is ASL at its finest!
To do the sign for “false," or "fake" -- move your "Index finger” past your nose. Your index finger doesn't touch the nose, it just comes close. Your index finger doesn't touch the nose, it just comes close.
American Sign Language: “metal" To do the sign for "metal" or "steel” place an "X" handshape under your chin near your throat. Slide the X forward about 3 inches and repeat. The movement isn't like shaving, rather you use a flicking movement.
The sign for “blouse" is made by placing your right hand in front of your chest, palm down and somewhat back. The side of your index finger touching your chest. Move your hand down to your waist in an arc ending with your little finger touching your lower belly.
American Sign Language: “interest / interested / interesting / appreciate” The sign for interest (as in "interesting or interested”) starts with both hands in "5" shapes on or near your chest and stomach. The dominant hand is higher up. Both hands move forward and change into “8" handshapes.
Signing: Beautiful is signed starting with your dominant hand open, thumb pointing at your chin and fingers pointing up. You complete the sign by rolling your fingers across the front of your face.
Improves small motor skills Sign language helps to develop small motor skills because of the dexterity required for communicating with hand gestures. Those who struggle with small muscle strength and coordination can build these skills as well as learn to communicate more efficiently with another language.
For the same reason there are so many spoken languages. In fact, one would expect more distinct forms of signed language: historically, Deaf communities were less connected than the corresponded hearing communities, leaving much room for distinct languages to develop and regional variations to form.
Okay. Signing: To do the baby sign for Okay, Thumb and index of dominant hand meet making a circle while the remaining finger point up slightly separated. This is the same sign used by Scuba Divers to report an Ok status.
The sign for “thank you" is made by starting with the fingers of your dominant hand near your lips. Your hand should be a “flat hand." Move your hand forward and a bit down in the direction of the person you are thanking. Smile (so they'll know you mean it).
Medical Definition of Sign language: A language that employs signs made with the hands and other movements, including facial expressions and postures of the body, used primarily by people who are deaf. There are many sign languages as, for example, British and American sign languages.
American Sign Language (ASL) is used in the USA and in English-speaking Canada. There are many dialects of ASL. Because of Gallaudet University in Washington D. C, and other fine schools for the Deaf, most ASL dialects are understood by Deaf people all over the country.
Sign languages are the native languages of the Deaf community and provide full access to communication. Although sign languages are used primarily by people who are deaf, they are also used by others, such as people who can hear but can't speak.
