I have to tell my dr. to use this. Tired of his hand-printed & copied over & over stuff & can fax it immediately since he snail mails everything. Highly recommend to anyone who can use all the features. Added plus is that it's so easy to use. It eliminates paper, toner and postage and well worth the price for anyone who needs all the bells & whistles (which he does!!). Thank you, PDFfiller !!

About line spacing is the space between each line in a paragraph. Word allows you to customize the line spacing to be single spaced (one line high), double-spaced (two lines high), or any other amount you want. The default spacing in Word is 1.08 lines, which is slightly larger than single spaced.
Line spacing controls how all lines of a paragraph are spaced. ... For example, say you're using a 12 point font for the text in your paragraph. If you choose single line spacing, the space between lines will be 12 points. If you choose double-spacing, that space between lines will be 24 points.
On a typewriter, each line is the height of the font, thus double-spacing means twice the font size. So if you're required to use a 12-point font, double line spacing means 24 points.
Select the text you want to format. Selecting text to format. On the Home tab, click the Line and Paragraph Spacing command. A drop-down menu will appear. Move the mouse over the various options. ... The line spacing will change in the document.
Your only real options for line spacing were to type single-spaced with 12 points per line, or to insert a carriage return between line to double-space the text at 24 points per line. Double-spacing 24 points per line or 3 lines per inch became the norm in much writing, in particular legal writing.
For example, click 1.0 to single-space with the spacing that is used in earlier versions of Word. Click 2.0 to double-space the selected paragraph. Click 1.15 to single-space with the spacing that is used in Word 2010. Click Line Spacing Options, and then select the options that you want under Spacing.
Single spacing means there is no extra space between the two lines. Double-spacing means there is a blank space between the lines where you could have fit another line if you were single spacing. That would also be called 100% leading) You can see samples at Word 2003: Set Line and Paragraph Spacing — Full Page.

This is what Word refers to as single spacing. Thus, 1,5 line spacing equals a leading of 1.5×14.4=21.6pt for a 12pt font size.
