I had some initial problems (undoing things and a pop-up overtime I used text boxes). Customer support representative Ellie guided me through it and was able to resolve most of my problems. I still wish I could use the text boxes without the pop-up though. I believe at this time it is not possible.

Click on the View tab of the ribbon. Click Split in the Window group to turn on the split-screen feature. Both horizontal and vertical split bars should appear in the middle of the worksheet. In each of the four quadrants created by the split bars should be a copy of the worksheet.
You can split the screen horizontally or vertically, depending on what you need. To split the screen horizontally, select a cell from column A in any row (Except for the A1 cell). Next, click the Split button on the View tab. The split will appear above the selected row.
When you split a sheet into separate panes, you can scroll in both panes independently. Select below the row where you want the split, or the column to the right of where you want the split. On the View tab, in the Window group, click Split. To remove the split panes, click Split again.
Split lets you divide an Excel worksheet into two or four windows that can scroll semi-independently, so you can see different parts of the worksheet at the same time. The Split button is found on the View tab of the ribbon. To split your screen vertically, select a cell in the top row and click the Split button.

Vertically Split Screen When you split your window vertically you have two horizontal scroll bars. Select the column which you want to split to appear on the left of and select (Window > Split).
