Should I collect signatures on Square?
It's just announced that it's cut down MV transaction time on Square Reader for contactless and chip even further, to just two seconds, compared to the average eight to 13 seconds. More pertinently, though, Square sellers in the US and Canada can now skip collecting signatures on all card transactions.
Can you pre-authorize on Square?
No, you can't with Square, as far as I know. You need an actual merchant account for this. With a pre-cut you can determine if the card in question is good for the amount you need. Predates only last for 710 days depending on the issuing bank.
