What does it mean to strike out a case?
If a case is 'struck out' it means the Court has dismissed it without a full hearing of all the evidence. In other words, one of the sides can apply to the court for a strike out, or the court can just decide to apply one should the need arise.

A motion to strike is a request by one party in a United States trial requesting that the presiding judge order the removal of all or part of the opposing party's pleading to the court.
