Your Letter ID is in the upper right-hand corner on the correspondence you received from the Department. The Account ID and Letter ID can be found the letters listed below: No Administrator on Tax Account.
A title is a document per state. Registering a car means getting a legal registration or license, so you can drive the car. Depending on the location, registering the car requires the car passes emission and safety tests (or none), and the owner of the car must have insurance. You title the car once, showing ownership.
Your vehicle title number is listed on the title of your vehicle as well as on your vehicle registration card. The title number is typically 8 digits and is usually located next to the other vehicle information on your registration, such as your VIN or license plate number.
To do a search, you'll need the car's VIN number, which can be found on the driver's side door jamb, on the car's registration card, or on insurance documents. Once you have the VIN number, you can search for a vehicle's history online.
Sometimes, you might not have the title because you are not the owner of the vehicle. If that's your situation, visit your local DMV service center and ask them to give you your title number. You'll most likely have to provide them with the VIN.
Check the vehicle's current registration card or the registration renewal bill. Not all states print the title number on the vehicle's annual registration card, so look for a listing that specially states the number you're looking at is a title number.
