To save a Word 2007 document as a PDF file, open the document and follow these steps: Click the Microsoft Office button, move to Save As, and click PDF Or XPS.

Click the Windows Start button | Settings. Open Default Apps. Scroll to the bottom of the right column and click on Choose default apps by file type. Locate the file type you need to set a default app for (PDF for this example).
