Knowing ASL signs (words) is not the same as knowing the language (ASL). Learning ASL as a second language may be natural for a few students, extremely difficult for a few, and somewhere between fairly not-so-hard and some difficult for the rest of the students. It's a typical curve.

The sign for “nice" or "clean" is made by placing your left hand in front of you, palm up and moving the flat palm of your right hand across your left hand. (If you are right-handed).
The best signs to teach baby A few suggestions that might come in handy: Sleep: Hands together and supporting a tilted head. Hungry: A rubbed belly. Eat/Food: Tapping the tips of fingers to mouth (like you're eating) with palm face down and thumb touching fingers.
The first step for teaching your baby sign language is to say the word and make the gesture at the same time. For example, when you hand your baby milk, say milk while making the sign for it (an open and closed fist/milking gesture). Pair the sign with word every time you say it remember, repetition is key.
Baby sign is distinct from sign language. Baby sign is used by hearing parents with hearing children to improve communication. Sign languages, including ASL, BSL, ISL and others, are natural languages, typically used in the Deaf community. Sign languages maintain their own grammar, and sentence structure.
Developmental Milestones Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move (like crawling, walking, or jumping). In the first year, babies learn to focus their vision, reach out, explore, and learn about the things that are around them.
After 9 months, babies can understand a few basic words like “no" and "bye-bye." They also may begin to use a wider range of consonant sounds and tones of voice. Baby talk at 12-18 months. Most babies say a few simple words like “mama" and "dadda" by the end of 12 months -- and now know what they're saying.
18 months is the generally accepted age for teaching colors. Some kids learn their colors sooner and some learn them later. As a general rule of thumb, 18 months 2 ½ is a great age for specifically teaching colors. You should always be reviewing colors with your child though, all the way up to kindergarten.
American Sign Language: “better" The sign for "better" starts in front of the mouth (not actually touching) and comes out to the right a bit. (Assuming you are right-handed). The shape changes from a flat hand into an “A" hand with a loose thumb.
Generally “great" is done as "wonderful." Hold both five handshakes out in front of you at about the height of your head (higher if you are more enthusiastic). Push both hands forward twice. The sign starts with the hands back and ends with the hands out.
