A file naming convention is a systematic method for naming files. Your file naming convention will always be your most powerful and easy method for organizing and retrieving your documents. You want to get this right the first time, so it is important to invest enough time to think about this carefully.
Be descriptive. We no longer live in a world where you can only have a file name that's 8 characters long. 1b. Finally. Be consistent. Use lowercase letters only. Don't use special characters. Use dates in your file names. Use version numbers in files you create.
Open any folder. Inside the folder, press right click. Go to New → Text Document. A new text file will be created, containing New Text Document as its default name. Now instead of writing the name of the file, just press Alt key and type 0160 from the right side of the keyboard.
Open File Explorer. Navigate to the folder of your choice. Right-click on the empty space and choose New — Text Document from the context menu. Remove everything from the name text field. Type a new name starting with a dot, e.g..htaccess.
To save the list in Excel format, click “File,” then “Save As.” Choose “Excel Workbook (*. Xlsx)” from the file type list and click “Save.” To copy the list to another spreadsheet, highlight the list, press “Ctrl-C,” click the other spreadsheet location, and press “Ctrl-V.”
