As a rule of thumb, printers prefer images to be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for high-resolution prints. Change the measurement settings to inches instead of pixels to specify the print size. For the Web, you need a resolution of 72 DPI.
What DPI should your logo be? This is not always necessary when using an image online, but most will tell you that 72 DPI is the best. However, that does not always make a difference when looking at images on a screen. The resolution of the actual screen may make the image appear differently.
300 dpi is the standard for print projects (especially for offset printing). Vector images have unlimited resolution, so it's better for scaling logos. 150 dpi is usually used for extra-large printed projects. But when it comes to web, resolution is normally around 72 dpi.
Logo sizes for your website Once your design (PNG, transparent background) is ready, you need to upload it to your website. For the most part, 250 PX (width) x 100 PX (height) are the optimal logo dimensions for a web page.
For a standard-sized letterhead, you'll want to choose an 8½ x 11 document, but you can use any size you'd like.
A JPG or PNG image that will print at six inches wide will have a file size of 300 1,000 KB or larger. Think of it this way: the larger the image must print, the larger the file size of the JPG or PNG will be.

3 Answers. To calculate the size in pixels that you need you simply multiply the physical size it will be by the resolution you need to supply your print artwork at... So, say your logo needs to be 2 × 2 inches and your artwork needs to be 300 PPI; your logo would need to be 600 A 600 pixels.
For printing, try having a minimum of 175 to 300 dpi. If it's supposed to be used like a logo would (on a website or on a letterhead) try making a 512×512 picture minimum If you can make it larger go for it If you want to use it on various types of documents/websites, always save a PNG version with transparency.
As a rule of thumb, it's always best to create your visual at the biggest size/resolution possible. This way, if it needs to be scaled it will most likely be scaled down, not up, limiting the risk of quality loss. For printing, try having a minimum of 175 to 300 dpi.
