For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
To join one or more open paths, use the Selection tool to select the open paths and click Object > Path > Join. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+J (Windows) or Cmd+J (Mac). When anchor points are not overlapping, Illustrator adds a line segment to bridge the paths to join.
The Tools drawer appears, which holds all the tools available in Illustrator. To add the Join tool, you can drag it anywhere onto the toolbar or drag it onto a tool group to nest it. For now, drag it to the bottom of the toolbar. Tip: To remove a tool, drag it from the toolbar to anywhere in the Tools drawer.

The Knife tool cuts objects along a freehand path you draw with the tool, dividing objects into their component-filled faces. Click and hold the Eraser () tool to see and choose the Knife ()tool. Do one of the following: To cut in a curved path, drag the pointer over the object.
If you're using the Essentials workspace, there is no Knife tool. Switch to Essentials Classic or any other Workspace in the upper right of your Illustrator window and your Knife will reappear, probably hidden under the Scissors (C) or the Eraser tool (Shift + E).
Select the Measure tool. (Select and hold the Eyedropper tool to see it in the Tools panel.) Do one of the following: Click the two points to measure the distance between them. Click the first point and drag to the second point. Shift drag to constrain the tool to multiples of 45°.
If you want to show or hide direction lines for selected anchor points, select the Direct Selection tool, select the anchor point that you want, and then click Show Handles For Multiple Selected Anchor Points or Hide Handles For Multiple Selected Anchor Points button in the Control panel.
