Word 2016 & 2013 For Word 2016 or 2013, the Equation Editor should be available by default. Simply select the Insert tab and choose Equation under the Symbols section. If you still do not see the Equation option, you may have to go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
Word 2010 & 2007 Choose To add or Remove Features and select Continue. Select the plus sign next to Office Tools, then select Equation Editor > Run from My Computer. Select Continue and the Equation Editor will be taken a few minutes to install.
Insert Symbol In the Insert tab, click on the “Symbol” drop-down menu and select “More Symbols.” Click on the Subset drop-down menu and select “Arrows.” If you don't see this option, select “Times New Roman” in the Font drop-down menu. Click on the reversible reaction arrow and then click the “Insert” button.
The symbol has two half arrowheads, one pointing in each direction. It is used in equations that show reversible reactions: the forward reaction is the one that goes to the right. The backward reaction is the one that goes to the left.
With the cursor at the insertion point where you want the symbol to appear, type 21cc, then press ALT and X simultaneously. If you have the Lucia Sans Unicode font available, this will type the equilibrium symbol without going to the insert symbol menu.
Any symbol, foreign character, wingding you can think of is available there, in any font you have installed on your computer. Among them is the equilibrium arrow you seek. If you are looking for greater-than-or-equal, or Less-than-or-equal, type 2265 then alt-x, or 2264, alt-x, respectively.
Make sure you switch on the Unlock, press and hold down the Alt key, type the Alt Code value of the arrow you want, for example for an arrow down symbol, type 2 5 on the numeric pad, release the Alt key, and you got a downwards arrow.
