What is a locked document?
Important: Locking a document is different from locking a version. With a locked version, you still can add other versions and edit them. With a locked document, you lock all the versions and prohibit other users to change anything. Only internal users can lock a document.
How do you unlock a locked Word document?
On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Protect Document, and then click Restrict Formatting and Editing. In the Restrict Formatting and Editing task pane, click Stop Protection.
How do I unlock a file in Windows 10?
Type the name of the locked file in the field, and click the Search button. Select the file from the search result. Behind the search window, in “Process Explorer,” right-click the locked file, and select Close Handle to unlock it.
How can I open a locked JPG file?
Under the “File” command line item, select “Get Info” (you can also press command I). At the bottom of the “General” section, deselect “Locked”. Close that Info window, trash the JPEG.
Why is my Microsoft Word locked?
Open the document where the selection is locked in the Microsoft Word 2016 application on your computer. When the document opens, go to the Review tab and find and click on the option that says Restrict Editing. Find and click on the button that says Stop Protection to unlock selection in the document.
