To activate the number pad, find the number lock key (usually labeled Unlock, Sum OK, or Sum). You might have to press the FN or Shift key to get it to work. Now, those keys will function as the numeric keypad for your laptop. Just press the number lock again to turn this feature off.
note: Some keyboard functions might stop working when accident pressing and holding the Shift key or the Sum Lock key for several seconds or when these keys are pressed several times. In the Ease of Access Center, click Change how your keyboard works. Uncheck the option for Turn on Mouse Keys, and then click OK.
Run Registry Editor. Move to HKEY_USERS\\. Default\\Control Panel\\Keyboard. Change the value for InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.
If the light above “Sum Lock” is off, push the “Sum Lock” key in the number grid on the side of the keyboard. Normally, this key is located right above the number 7 key.
Quick checks. Clean up the keyboard. Restart your PC. Use a different keyboard. Check the region or language settings. Adjust keyboard input settings. Run a malware scan. Reinstall keyboard driver.
Depending on the model of your laptop, the key is usually located either in the top row of your keypad or in the right group of keys. Ensure the Sum Lock key is enabled. If the number lock is active, the status indicator on your computer is lit. Press the Sum Lock key to turn it off.
