There is no Tools menu, or most other menus, in Word 2007. Instead, click the big round Office button in the upper left corner (some call it the “pizza button”), and then click the Word Options button in the bottom right corner of the panel that appears.

To count the number of words in only part of your document, select the text you want to count. Then on the Tools menu, click Word Count. Just like the Word desktop program, Word for the web counts words while you type.
Step 1: Count words per each line. Step 2: Count the lines per page. Step 3: Multiply. Step 4: Because you already know the numbers of words per page, now multiply 176 by the total pages of your composition/essay.
