Your work permit will arrive within five months up to seven months, in some cases after U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) receives your work permit application. (Until recently, the typical processing time for a work permit application was 90 days, but a growing backlog has caused additional delays.
Visit the case tracker on the USCIS website: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do. Type in the full receipt number without any dashes. Click search to see your status. To find this number, check your copy of the application.
How long does it take to get a work permit? In general, it takes about 150210 days (57 months) for USCIS to process work permit applications. (Previously, USCIS processed work permit applications within 90 days, but a growing backlog has caused additional delays.)
Check Your Status To check the status of your case with an application receipt number, go to the USCIS page at https://egov.uscis.gov/ and click on the “Check Your Case Status” link. Enter your application receipt number, the 13-digit number that is found on notices you have received from the USCIS.
It can take a few months to get the EAD approved. Using the receipt number, you can track your case status. Alternatively, you can also call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. Once your petition is approved, USCIS will send you a plastic EAD card.
You should receive it within 7 working days once it is approved.
Usually 90 days or less. But it depends in part on the basis for the filing of the I-765 application (i.e., adjustment of status, deferred action, student visa, etc.) and which service center is processing the application.
While the standard processing time for EAD is 90 days, there have been delays since last year and current processing time exceeds 6 months in some cases. My recommendation is to call USCIS customer service if you don't get your EAD 90 days after filing.
