Can you drive to and from work with a suspended license?

You can only drive with a suspended license, if you're eligible for a restricted license that allows you to drive to and from work or school and nowhere else. Some states may indefinitely suspend your license if you have a medical condition that could make it unsafe for you to be on the road.

Can you fight a license suspension?

If your driver's license has been suspended, or is about to be suspended, you may be able to appeal the suspension and have your license reinstated. To appeal a license suspension, you will need to file the correct paperwork with the appropriate agency and attend a hearing.

Do you have to hand in your license if it's suspended?

Generally, that is a court suspension, and you are directed to hand your license to the bailiff. Now, if the DMV sends you a notice of suspension, there's usually a demand that you mail your license (surrender) to the DMV. It may actually be suspended for a longer period if you fail to do so.

Can I get a permit to drive to work?

You can get a work permit as a minor without a driver's license. If instead, you are asking about a driver's license restricted that allows travel for work and school, you apply for one, once you have served the minimum required period of suspension. Contact DMV to determine when you can apply.

How long does it take to get a driving work permit?

Once the paperwork is completed and submitted to the Secretary of State, the Restricted Driving Permit is mailed to you in approximately 3 weeks. If the driver receives a denial in the mail from the Secretary of State after a formal hearing, they may have another hearing 90 days from the date of the initial hearing.
