This is the first time I've needed this type of aid, and I've found it to be very useful and relatively easy to use. Sorry, I'm really too swamped with work to do another survey

Names of the parties. The full details of the business, and the employee's full name and address. Employment contract start date. Employee's job title and description. Workplace. Working hours. Probationary period. Salary. Deductions.
Non-guaranteed overtime does not have to be offered by an employer. However, when it is offered, the worker must accept and work it. If a worker refuses to work overtime they are obliged to work, the employer may view this as a breach of the contract and a disciplinary matter.
You can refuse to work overtime if you've already worked 10 hours of overtime that week. If your contract says that you could work up to 20 hours per week overtime, and you've signed the agreement as such, then you can't refuse to work that amount of hours in overtime.
The short answer is that, yes, you can fire an employee for refusing to work overtime. As long as the reason for firing an employee isn't discriminatory or retaliatory as prohibited by law, “at-will employment” means that you can fire your employee at any time for any reason.
If you politely refuse every time you are asked, it leaves the door open for another request in the future. If you don't want to do any overtime at all, you should speak to your manager and explain that due to personal commitments, you can't do overtime. You should consider other factors too.
Compulsory overtime. You only have to work overtime if your contract says so. Even if it does, by law, you cannot usually be forced to work more than an average of 48 hours per week. Unless your contract guarantees you overtime, your employer can stop you from working it.
Why You Should Stop Working Overtime Diseases such as blood pressure, back injury, mental problems and depression have been linked to long working hours. The longer the hours you will put into work, the higher the risk.
