There is currently nothing in Delaware statutes that prohibits an individual or business from using a remote notary from states who permit remote notarization. At this time Delaware does not permit remote notarizations by Delaware notaries.
​If you are commissioned as a Notary Public in a state other than Maryland, you cannot use your Maryland notary seal when notarizing in that other state.
Establish a notary profile on the Secretary of State website at https://notary.delaware.gov. Submit an online application using the Secretary of State's online system. Answer every question marked with an asterisk (*) during the application process. Pay a non-refundable $60 application processing fee.
Complete the application form. Submit the form and $60 fee to the Secretary of State. Once you receive the commission certificate by email, print and sign it. Go to a Notary Public to take your oath of office.
Can I notarize a document for a relative? This is not addressed in Delaware law. however, since a notary public by definition is an impartial witness the best practice would be not to notarize the signature of a relative.
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be of good character and reputation – Individuals convicted of a felony who have not had their rights restored as well as applicants convicted of a crime involving dishonesty or moral turpitude are not eligible for a Delaware notary commission.
